pre OUTLINE.... PLOT...sketching /outling the SETTINGSthe action
1. Opens in an Oklahoma farmyard... sunny, dusty, a black cloud in the sky...
2. Little League Game ...Billy is pitching a perfect game, its the bottom of
the ninth and the count, two and two.... he steps to the back of the mound and
looks at the score board ...Word had spread in the farming community ...the crowd
had grown, Billy McLane was throwing a perfect game...
3. Billy is watching baseball on TV...he is at Mrs Nedor house , his parents are at a
Church meeting in Tulsa.
He gets the news his parents are dead, a car wreck.
4. He is put on a train to Chicago.
5. The ashes of his Mom and Dad are shipped to Chicago.
6. Billy moves in with Uncle Bob McLane, his fathers brother, Uncle Bob it a tavern
owner, businessman / philanthropist of sorts.
7. There is a protestant Irish family in Chicago and Aunt Floie is Billy's mother's sister.
She is the one driving force need to preserve the family and tries to civilize Uncle Bob to
that purpose...
8. There is a family night at Aunt Floie house.
9. There is a High School coach that discovers Billy's baseball skills.
10. Goes to college on a full scholarship.
11. He continues to live in a modest room over the tavern and doing
chores and helping his uncle.
12. Uncle Bob sponsors Jeanie McDoogle from Belfast...sends her to
college... to be a chef and restaurant manager.
13. Billy opens a Law office and takes Uncle Bob as his first client.
14. Uncle Bob has a stroke and a nurse is hired to live in and care for him.
15. This is a turning point for Billy but the setting is Uncle Bobs Tavern/ the Law office/
Aunt Floie house.
Possibly the trigger before the crisis at the beginning of Act 2.
Act 2 is the struggle with the antagonist, culminating in the Epiphany.
Who is the Antagonist? what does it want? what is it's flaw and what is background and
history, story motivation....? Knowing this will help to flesh out the rest of the story and plot.
