HOW TO Outline A best Selling Outline of your first draft.

  • next time thru I'll outline the settings...like an on the scene reporter.

Pre - OUTLINE: REMEMBER: UNCLE BOB'S TAVERN...... This is  3 acts 9 points raw ideas pre

Could this be a hook for a Killer Thriller ?

In the yard next to a farmhouse, a young farmer, in the heat of the day, walks to an outdoor water spicket. He bends and washes his hands and splashes his face and neck. A screen door slams. He feels around for a towel. His wife, holding a baby, passes a towel. He wipes his face and the farmer lets out a holler of extreme joy. His eyes open and he sees his son laughing. They make faces at one another. “Peek a boo.”
“Here Daddy, play with him a few minutes?” She hands the baby over, pats both on the head, and runs back in the house. The farmer raises the baby to the sky. “Billy, want to play baseball?
    “BaBa.”

  • C..... Leon, maybe an episode of "Father Knows Best?" Not feeling the tension or being gripped by fear with this.
  • Leon ... That's what I was going for.

  • Leon....  Great
  • G......It should be the next scene that scares the S___ out of you.
  • C..... Hmm... A killer thriller? Is grandma coming out of the house with an axe in next scene?
  • Leon  Or the next...
  • Leon  no mom and dad are killed in a car crash
  • G... Or the wife comes out dragging a tied up person either dead or alive depending upon

    where you want to go.
  • Leon Davis no the boy is suddenly 10 years
  • Leon...... and he meets his new family and moves in with uncle Bob
  • C...... "I'll give ya' peek-a-boo," wife snarled as she returned from house, dangling a photo of

some scantily-clad redhead that she'd found in her hub's dresser when putting his folded

laundry away. But that really wouldn't be a thriller, unless it had a time element to it, would it?
  • L..... not so fast big boys...this is not a quickie..

  • M..... no, not that Uncle Bob! He has a dungeon in his basement and, well, …..
  • C.... I see that I can't type quickly enough.
  • C.... Missed prior comments while trying to complete my own.
  • L... no he's a great guy. Sends Billy to school, little league and law school and teaches him to

    stay away from girls...

  • M. Oh, boys club. Girls are good, though ...
  • C... Teaches him to stay away from girls? Is this a sequel to "Mission Impossible?"
  • L..... ask Billy to run his restaurant and oversee his business affairs...
  • Leon... ...uncle Bob sponsors a young girl from the old country and sends her to Chef and

     Restaurant management...Jeanie McDoogle
  • L..... Warns Billy about Irish Girls
  • C.... Just not sold on this as the hook that makes me want to turn the page, if it's a killer thriller.

     Maybe I'm too impatient.
  • C..... Maybe an opening that has the wife asking him to sharpen knives... And he replies ...

    Xxxxxxx
  • Leon ..... At age 24 Billy is Jeanie's boss and he tries to encourage. her to pursue more

education... she wants to be a wife and a mommy..
  • Leon Davis something happen to Billy that changes every thing...
  • C.... Some innocent foreshadowing reply or event that the reader might see a disturbing, and make them keep reading and guessing why "Jim Anderson" said/did that.
  • L.... Uncle Bob is found near dead and taken to the hospital...only Billy knows how rich he is and how to run all his business.

His flaw is his attachment to the father figure and not testing and learning the need for autonomy has the natural development for a man.

    • A...my story has an ending before I start. I put in the pieces as I go.
    • Leon Davis almighty voice of Antonymous inspires a poem... I once had a girl who ....never mind I'm way too focused on finishing my outline.

A....get off the fb if you are writing

    • Leon Davis I'm outlining I think I'll skip to the end of act two. for Billy realizes he's got to change who he answers to in order to be complete.

    • A chaucer dude he's my man.

    • Leon Davis William Drury McLane, most eligible bachelor in Chicago... sole heir of his Uncle's estate....has fallen in love with a woman his Uncle forbid him to date, because she was an employee and Irish. .. ACT III..the plan.to end the antagonist almost all action, first plan might fail, third plan might fail Act III will be short he must find a way to tell his Uncle before he dies...He is Going to marry Jeanie and give away most of the fortune to charity. This leads to the Climax where Billy acts heroic and defeats he antagonist . The Climax is the moment when the antagonist is defeated. Billy seeks out the antagonist and does him in. Then the end.
