COMOS tell me a story.

Outline/ flowchart? sketch, plan, ... do something...
write don't stop.

Each act has three dramatically goals. You can
think of them as steps or gates. Steve Alcorn calls them Checkpoints. He says the story is the emotional change or arc
of the protagonist. The plot is the action that supports the story.

They can be inserted after you have conceived  your basic story action which is plot.

James Patterson says your beginning story is like a skeleton
but it needs to be a good skeleton. It needs to be told with
no dialog and  short,  until you know the entire storyline.James
is talking about developing the outline.

When I began writing I didn't read much. I couldn't even
write an interesting paragraph. I had to read books on writing
and Novels and go to a critique group at the Library. I read
different authors and discovered James Patterson was head and shoulders the most successful modern author. I decided to learn as much as I could.

For our purposes of developing, planning, sketching a novel's
outline...we have 9 DIGS. They can be inserted when you like.
For this writer I have a tendency to spend to muck time trying to write the Hook and first chapter...after the Patterson
Master Course I decided to prove it was true for me.

Each Chapter is one scene, with, POV, setting,
location, time, place - galaxy.

Act - I ...  Hook, Background, Trigger, ... funny thing happened,
but you need to understand this... something happens to the protagonist that changed ...the course of his life. That's act One.

1. HOOK ? Chapter One  is a set-up that raises [foreshadows] questions,
of flaws, protagonist, antagonist ,  CHAPTER 1 Is a situation hook is
a dramatically inserted goal.... first of 9... it can be several scenes that set
a story in dramatic motion.

Each scene has dramatically injected goals...

1.  GOAL - What happens, What do we see? What is said?

Wife.." Can you watch Billy while I finish here...?  she hands the two
year old over to the father. She returns to the kitchen.

Man....." Wana play baseball Billy? " the young man insites laughter
from the two year old who can barely walk.

Two year old tow head baby boy reaches for a shelf . "...Man starts
singing to the toddler.."take me out to the ball game.".. on the shelf...
an old glove... a high school diploma...
a teenager in a baseball in uniform...
...father plays catch with boy,

showed him how to throw a
strike when he was two years old years old... in this scene

Mom runs in the room,,, releaved to see, Man... on his knees in
front of the baby who is throwing strikes into a glove taken
from the shelve.... using both hands and in reality, pretending...
but the excitement was real the experience was genuine.

end of  1.

Billy is programed to passion and hard work and perseverance.

2. Family Night in Chicago.
3. Orphaned
4. Uncle Bob's Rules: work hard, live clean, no sex before marriage,
no fraternizing with the hired help.
5.

everybody wants something...
Pop takes down the Ball and glove....
Mom yells from the room "What's going on?"

Hook is about a father, son, Mom, baseball and family.

eight year old throws baseballs at a target on the barn...

On a farm...There was a young boy born in  Oklahoma

His father ...ask the preacher.... you used a verse ... Train up a child...
in the way he should go....What does that mean to me...  he put a
baseball in the boys hand at a young age it would change his life. He put
good books in the boy's hands and took to
Church  every Sunday....

[ passion building and [Skills...target on the barn, ping pong on rainy days.
[ Read the news paper every night. Homework...]

Every Sunday the family went to a little country Church]

Monday-Friday - school...and chores after ....  Saturday ...little league and

go to town for supplies....

 CONFLICT

Got to little league and he lacked fielding skills.

{flaw?    ...didn't have all the shills needed... Lost his first game because
he didn't know where to throw the ball.

there was no improvement in his fielding and his father talked to boy...

he invited the little league team and the coach over for Sunday Dinner.
to talk about the problem....

Disaster...

1.3. Sunday didn't produce any visible gains...discouraged...
